denver comiccon wrap-up

Wow. Exhaustion sets in...

ComicCon was a rousing success. The crowds were record breaking, dealers seemed to do brisk business, every panel I sat on was well-attended, the literary panel track was impressively put together. It helped that I knew most everyone...

Writers who attended: David Boop--ComicCon M.C., Carrie Vaughn--who really knows her books! I came home with such a great reading list from that panel, Mario Acevedo--moderator extraordinaire, Jeanne Stein, Molly Tanzer--who I just met and is super cool, Lynda Hillburn, Jason Heller--who brought us muffins for our second panel this morning, Peter Wacks--whose 9 year old daughter asked a very intelligent question in the panel this morning, Tamela Burke...who else? Did I forget anyone?? It's such a pleasure to be on panels with such well-spoken, thoughtful writers. I feel like an idiot half the time, but  I'm there to learn too and I'm such a newbie compared to many of them.

My kids had a blast gaming and exploring. My youngest went as a Creeper and had countless pix taken of her. Today she spent some time with the stop-motion activity set up in a sort of art corral for kids, and then she spent a good hour animating a drawing with an artist. The director of the program said he rarely saw such intense concentration from actual animators.

Last night was Rock ComicCon, featuring H2Awesome. I'd call them satiric punk, they sing songs about all things geek culture. I bought their album today with original art by a comic book artist whose signature I can't read, unfortunately.

Now...to work and sleep. And go to Walmart for dishwasher soap. Oh, the thrill and glamor never ends...

Ahh. Robin Williams as Adrian Cronauer. I remember listening to Cronauer back when I was in Vietnam. Naw that's a lie, but I love that movie
