I just read over at Terrible Minds about how he's determining December No Bullshit Excuses month. It's meant to erradicate all your bullshit excuses about not getting your writing done.
Here's my stuff I do instead of write for pay, in order of stupidity:
Bake (I'm on a diet, duh)
Facebook (I trust there is no explanation needed here)
Read Chuck Wendig's blog (Kiddin' ya, Chuck)
Not working out (seriously need to get off my ass and it always helps me focus on writing)
Checking on progress on this online story I'm writing with a friend (Which I don't resent the writing at all, for a myriad of reasons. However, the constant, compulsive checking for progress is an annoying habit I'm working to break)
Shopping (duh, it's Christmas. But most of it can be done online, which I'm trying to do)
Working on the website (sigh)
Checking email constantly (well, I am preparing to do some edits with my editor, need to get on that)
Scheduling the con tour for next year
I'm sure there are more like feeding and watering of children and patiently listening to my husband talk about work.
Still.
I'm am determined. No more bullshit excuses. I'm gonna write.
But first, today, I'm gonna go shopping.
And try to catch some Broncos.
Sigh.

Haha - I know where you're coming from - my kitchen is currently full of fresh cookies. My screen is blank... and I'm blogging
Sigh
Lx
I don't have excuses. I have reasons. You hear me, reasons. I'm a reasonable guy so I have reasons not excuses.
Of course that doesn't mean that some of them aren't bullshit.
Good post, Mike
I came to kind of the same conclusion myself about excuses. I need to stop compulsively checking the internet as well.
Well I really prefer the designated times where we are both writing fast. It's a lot more exciting and fun.
Yeah, it is. I just keep thinking of stuff throughout the day and don't want to forget. I've set up my new story as a blog and am going to try to do that instead during non designated times for a reward.
Ugh. Revisions will suck. Why not just keep a file open and write that way?
You know why! Sheesh. Shhh.
But I am never as motivated to write alone so it's not that big of a problem.
Well, I meant on your phone. One of my friends started his book on his phone.
Oh. I don't have a text editor. I looked, but couldn't find one.
There are a few free apps. I'm downloading Jota right now. I used notepad on the iPad. It sucked.
