turning phrases

I'd call my voice serviceable. Utilitarian.

I'm thinking that's not good enough.

I think when I'm working with language, as a professional, I need to expand.

Only, I'm not sure how. I don't like flowery, don't write flowery, don't read it. I don't describe my world to myself every day in poetic terms.

I don't turn phrases.

But I think I should.

Any advice?
