light a candle

Two things.

Please, if you've got one, light a candle for the son of a friend of mine in ICU at Denver Children's. The family was involved in a terrible car accident. All four kids were injured, but their eldest was still unconscious as of yesterday afternoon. (The others are out of the hospital and doing okay, as far as I know, and the parents weren't hurt.) Ryan is just 13.

It's a grey day here in Colorado, and I love the thought of bright candlelight leading him back home to us. (Not my idea, btw, but from a friend from Facebook.) The outpouring of love and well-wishes from people who don't even know this family has astounded me. He's not even 48 hours out from the accident yet.

Also, a peptalk for writers from Joe Konrath.
