My kid went to a birthday party last night. Four girls. Pizza. Cake. A little craft. They wore jammies and watched a movie. Simple. She had a total blast. It took her all of four seconds to fall asleep when she got home.
I really don't get the whole HUGE BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA! Shit. I didn't spend as much on my wedding reception as some people in my very own neighborhood spend on their kids' birthday parties. Clowns. Balloon animals. Crowns and blinky badges. Jumpy castles. Science guys. Gift bags and party favors. Puppies and Ice Cream!
Sheesh. It's not like they've won a Nobel or something. They're just turning six.
