I'm shy. Ok, so there, I said it. Shut up. I really kinda am. (Most of y'all don't know me, after all, not my face.) Making small talk feels uncomfortable. Most people who know me say that's bullshit, but really, it's an effort I put out there, every day. I bullshit bullshitters.
But, there's shy, and there's just not making an effort. I know the difference. By the time someone has reached adulthood, shy is no longer an excuse. Dude, learn how to carry on a conversation. Talk about the weather, cars, your last vacation. Ask questions. Talk about something. Anything. But don't say the minimum, fall silent, and expect to gain my respect.
It ain't shy, and it ain't reserved, it's rude.
